WOW ... what an awesome day. It started early yesterday at my MacKenzie's Martial Arts / Hapkido location in Voorhees, NJ. There was a lot of prep-work needed for the three (3) events that we had planned for yesterday. I thank those staff, students, and parents who helped so much! Master Jeff Blackman and I then drove to Cheltenham, Pa. to meet up with Dojunim Ji Han Jae, Mr. Chung, etc. Grandmasters Inwan Kim, John Godwin, Scott Yates, and Master John Skokowski also met there. Our 'motorcade' then drove to the Trenton Train Station to meet our 'Guest of Honor', "Korea Hapkido Federation" Chairman & Grandmaster Oh Se Lim from South Korea. It was a very special and emotional reunion for the Dojunim Ji Han Jae & GM Oh Se Lim.

GM Oh Se Lim was his first student in Andong, South Korea back in 1956. The prepared welcome-banner, written in both English and Korean (Han-Gul) was a nice touch, and put yet another smile on GM Oh’s face. I had the honor of presenting him with the ceremonial flowers, as is a Korean custom for dignitaries. From there, we went to the Baewon Korean restaurant in Cherry Hill, NJ. A lot of other important masters joined us there for a celebration feast. These included: GM Ian Cyrus; GM Stewart Rosenberg; GM / Dr. Mark Fabi; Master Carl Hettinger (one of DoJuNim Ji, Han Jae’s original students here in America); Master Ryan Wagner; Master Ismael Roman; I great time was enjoyed by all. After checking in to the Hampton, we all drove to our “World SinMoo Hapkido Federation” headquarters location in Voorhees, NJ for a "Meet & Greet" session with GM Oh Se Lim.

The staff Tracy Drury, Kelvin Black Belt, Dave Brucato, Colin Mazurek, Dillon Tung, etc. had the dojang well-prepared for our special guests. The dojang was absolutely filled with appreciative and dedicated students and families. Following an extensive photo-session, and with DoJuNim Ji, Han Jae's approval, GM Oh Se Lim awarded both my self (Ken MacKenzie) and GM John Godwin with official "KHF" flags for our dojangs. The Grandmasters, Masters, Instructors & Blackbelts (much to their surprise) were awarded formal KHF gold-trimmed lapel-pins. Everyone was then awarded a KHF patch {I feel badly for those who missed this event}. My team had prepared a custom cake for our guest, and he and I cut it together with a Korean-style sword. This is another moment that has been added to my big book of great memories!

The DEMO that was presented by some of the instructors was AWESOME !!! It made both DoJuNim and I proud, and KHF Chairman GM Oh Se Lim led the applause following every action by the experts. The demonstrators included: GM Scott Yates (World SinMoo Hapkido Federation, Secretary General); GM John Godwin; Master John Skokowski; Master Ryan Wahner; Blackbelt-Champion Dave Brucato and Blackbelt-Champion Colin Mazurek. A more private, intimate dinner followed, and then it was back to the Hampton for an extended & important historical meeting. I especially enjoyed my lengthy talk with GM Oh regarding that current state and future of Hapkido, and it’s ultimate unification. Plans for our team's spring trip to Korea have already been put into motion, as has a special International training seminar with GM Oh, Se Lim to be scheduled for the autumn of 2015.
